Congratulations to Melvin Taing for being hired as the ASC Director for 2011-2012. Melvin has participated in many ASC events, as well as being involved in the TeoChew Association (TCA), Japanese Student Association (JSA), and Chinese Student Association (CSA). Melvin also designed some of the amazing posters that all of you have seen around campus.

Melissa Yang is a California-born, Hmong American. As a first generation college student, she is a senior majoring in Communications and minoring in Diversity. Her vision for the ASC is to build a community which fosters appealing leadership opportunities for student growth and self-responsibility through social, community, and civic engagement. Previously, she studied abroad in Italy to research ethnography and the relationship between culture and communication. Mel also served as the Vice President of the Hmong Student Association and as a Team Leader for Jumpstart, an AmeriCorps program, teaching in South Seattle. In her spare time, she enjoys salsa dancing, volleyball and playing the guitar.
